Yesterday I started with the Ice Bear model. This is a first rough shape test.

Today, I started with the creation of a new set. It is the scene before the hunt beginns.

Today I worked on the new Character. The hunter.

Today I worked on a new set. This is the set were one of the keyscene of the movie plays.

Today I continued working at the tent scene. It created the camera movements and the scene cuts. Also is as a review of the animation speed.

Today, all elements were used in the tent scene. The character and the fire effects. The camera angle was adjusted slightly and add depth of field to give even more depth.

First moving images of the Arctica project. This is one of the first test animations for the film beginning
Please look in 720p HD :-)
The names of the first hundred followers will be inserted as a Gold supporter in the movie credits.
So just go on the Arctica the Movie Facebook Page and press I like it.

Thanks
Today, the title sequence was rendered in Cinema 4D as a PNG image sequence. The sequence has 500 frames and each is rendered in HD 720p. The rendering tooks about 5 hours.
Here a small screenshot:

This is the first visualization of the intro sequence. The textures are displayed only raw , because the animation is rendered out as preview.

We have made some adjustments and we covered the roofs with snow, to bring more variation in the scene.

Today the work continued on the research station scene. The first textures are added . The light setup is still the test light.

Today I started to build the research station scene. Here you can see the first test. The whole scene is still very rough and it will be complemented with some objects soon.

Today, the main character has been optimized for the rigging and we add the texture.
Here two renders:

This update includes additional adjustments to the lightning and the textures.

Today we still work further on the inner tent scene. we added some texture and materials. The camera angle has been adjusted slightly to give more depth to the scene. Also the light mood was adapted.

Today we add the first textures on the 3D models. The first test render shows a section of the tent interior scene. The lighting setup is not final but it shows very nicely, how the materials will be look like. The second rendering shows the tent from outside. Here was used the snow form the test materials.

Update:

Update:

Today I have already set all created 3D models in the Igloo-Scene.
These renderings are more used as a reference for style and mood.
-The first picture is a sketch and Toon rendering with the default settings in Cinema 4D.

-The second picture is slightly edited with Photoshop.

The Arctica project will make a huge jump in the production with the new release of Maxon Cinema 4D 13. Just the new character functions allow quickly to create a working rig. The animations like ; walk or run is much easier with the help of the new character walk cycle generator .
I’m looking forward to the new release and am convinced that there is a huge boost in production with Maxon Cinema 4D R13.
At this point, many thanks to the Maxon team, that worked on this new Cinema 4D release.

I started to rig the Lowpoly character for the film. In the pictures you can see the rigging.
The whole rig is fully operational and allows it to animate natural movements.
This is a first draft of the arrow arc. The textures are not final and are currently only intended as a visual aid.
Today we visit the NONAM. North American Native Museum, Indian and Inuit cultures. We could read a lot about the history and culture of the Inuit.
Here are a few photos (Fotos by CocoDigitalArts /source: NONAM)
We have a script :-)
Today, the final adjustments are made on the Story.
Small part of the script:
He goes to sleep and close the eyes. The night is very cold and a snow storm cuts across the tent. The fire in the middle of the tent give warmth …….
…… With a strong jump he reached the edge and can hold it with last force. The ice fall down into the depths …..
There are not more :-)
Today I worked on the first 3D models. Here you can see a small selection.
-Tent
-Slide
-Coat Holder
Today I started the first sketches of the storyboard .They are still very crude, but they show the setting of the scene. Shown are the Scene-nr, the camera function and the animation length.
Later I create colored Concept-arts to find the color mood.
This is a first Snow-test. It`s build with 6 layers in the color and Luminance. Also I add a Bumpmap and Disp.
Research is the most important step in a film project. One can not collect enough reference material. In Zurich, there is the NOAM, North America Native Museum, Indian and Inuit cultures.
This Sunday I will visit the museum and get some information and particularly reference material
The side of the Museum of Inuit is a great source.

Today I set up the production blog for the 3D animation project. The idea to make a 3D animation film hase started 5 years ago. The first Concept-Arts are from 2006. Now, after over 5 years I start the project again with more experience. I`m convinced that it will work this time.
This is a first ice test. The Igloo and the material was created in Cinema 4D. Also, the light response was tested in the reflections.
The lighting setup is not optimal yet and will set up in the future.
This is the first fire test. Created with Cinema 4D particles and PyroCluster.
These are the first concept art of the characters. The drawings were drawn by Céline Müller and Müller Lucie.
The tent scene was created in Cinema 4D. (No textures)
